What do words mean?

Are words significant? When are they significant, and when are they not? How do you decide?

Over the weekend Dave texts Mistress. He’s been to look at a BMW he’s thinking of buying. Nice, black 318i, white leather trim – really nice… “you would look great in it” he says…

‘Me?’ She says to me. ‘Why does he say I’d look great in it? I wonder if he thinks his wife would look great in it too, whether he thought about what She’d look like in it…’
